The best month for most seniors is june, especially from mid june into early july. it gives you long daylight, broad excursion availability, active wildlife, and usually more comfortable weather than the season edges.
June is not perfect. alaska can rain on a forecast that looked cheerful at breakfast. but it gives you the best balance of the things older travelers tend to care about most.
